Introducing: Elementary Cloud!

Elementary Cloud is now generally available! Our hosted, turnkey data observability platform is built on our widely adopted open-source package. It includes several new features like automated monitors for freshness, volume, and schema, column-level lineage, and more.

The Elementary team is thrilled to announce that Elementary Cloud is now officially GA!

We started our journey by building the only open-source data observability solution built for data and analytics engineers. Our goal was to give our users a solution that makes observability part of their workflow, that works for them.

The key was to build something easy for users to start with. It's just a two-minute setup with the development process they already know, the permissions they already have, and the data warehouse they already use. They can get visibility extremely easily, query them in SQL, and even use their BI tool to analyze them.  The response was amazing - over the past year thousands of organizations have adopted Elementary OSS!

While the adoption of the open-source solution continued to grow, we realized there was a need for more. Users loved the value they were getting out of the package and the static report, but they wanted more -  better coverage, advanced alerting, multiple environments, detailed lineage, real time monitoring and more.

What is Elementary Cloud?

Elementary Cloud is a turnkey data observability platform built on top of our widely adopted open-source package. It includes several advanced features that are ideal for teams running mission-critical data pipelines.  You can get started with a free trial here.

Key features of Elementary Cloud include:

Automated monitors for freshness, volume and schema

Ever fantasized about having all your production tables monitored instantly? No setup, no hassle, just instant, comprehensive coverage.

Our out-of-the-box monitors detect freshness, volume and schema issues with zero configuration. You will automatically be notified if:

  • Your pipeline didn't run on time
  • A table stopped updating for longer than expected
  • There is a significant drop or increase in table or row count

Worried about cost? These monitors will not increase compute costs as they leverage warehouse metadata only (information schema, query history).

Column-level lineage from source to dashboard

Column-level lineage from your code, data warehouse, sources and BI tools allows you to easily answer questions like:

  • Which downstream columns are actually impacted by a data quality issue?
  • Can we deprecate or rename a column?
  • Will changing this column impact a dashboard?

Use lineage filters to search through the lineage graph and focus on what you are looking for:

  • Search nodes by tag, owner, path and more
  • Search nodes with failing test results
  • Choose how many lineage hops you want to see on each side to reduce unwanted noise

Alert rules

With Elementary Cloud you can set up actionable alerts to different systems, channels, and recipients.

  • Route alerts to different recipients and owners and avoid alert fatigue
  • Alert on failures of Elementary monitors, dbt tests, model runs, and source freshness issues
  • Enrich your alerts with additional properties and custom formats
  • Create an incident in PagerDuty when a model breaks

Wait, there’s more
